Association football

Association football, also called soccer, is a team sport. Association football is currently the most popular sport in the world, with over 250 million registered players worldwide.

The goal of the sport is to kick a ball into the other team's goal. One of the players on a team is the goalkeeper, and the other ten are known as "outfield players". A game lasts around 90 minutes, sometimes more, with a 15 minute break in between each 45 minutes.

History

Football has its origins in medieval England with a sport known as "mob football". The sport was played between large crowds of people or even entire villages with an animal bladder. Due to itrs violence, it was banned from being played. Each team has 11 players on the field.

Modern football originates in 1863 when an official rulebook was created.
