La Fête Nationale or Bastille Day (as known in English-speaking lands) is a holiday celebrated annually in France and other lands around the world. Bastille Day is celebrated with fireworks, concerts, balls, and the largest military parade in the world.
The day commemorates the fall of the Paris prison called the Bastille on 14 July 1789. This event marked the beginning of the French Revolution. The day also commemorates the unity of the French people during the Fête de la Fédération on 14 July 1790.
