Constantine XI Palaiologos, nicknamed Dragases (born on 8 February 1404/1405 and died on 29 May 1453) was the last Byzantine Emperor. He reigned from 31 October 1448 until his death, and was part of the Palaiologos dynasty.
During his reign, the Ottomans focused all their forces on Constantinople and finally took the city on 29 May 1453. Constantine XI perished in the final battle.
