Dorothée Gilbert

Dorothée Gilbert is a ballet dancer of Paris Opera Ballet, born September 25, 1983 in Toulouse. She began dancing at the Toulouse conservatory before being admitted to the Paris Opera dance school in 1995, in the fourth division. She joined the Paris Opera ballet in 2000 at the age of 17 and made a remarkable debut in the company and in 2004 won the Cercle Carpeaux dance prize which recognizes the best dancer of the Opera ballet. Dorothée Gilbert was named Étoile (the equivalent of prima ballerina or principal dancer) on November 19, 2007, after a representation of The Nutcracker alongside Manuel Le Gris.
