Herman Melville

Herman Melville was an American writer. He was born on August 1, 1819 in New York City, New York. He died on September 28, 1891 (aged 72) New York City, New York. Among other works, he wrote Moby Dick, a novel depicting one Captain Ahab's obsession with catching a white whale, as well as Typee, Omoo, and the short novel, Billy Budd.
