My distrest spiritReels in the rushingWhirlpool of crisisGreedy and crushing.Life's fragile shallopHurries me tragicOn through the stormtostDarkness pelagic.Vast seas appal me.Ah, to sail shoreward!But in wild thunderWinds thrust me forward.Surge-serpents hiss us;Ship-thews are shaken;Low in the green gulfsLurks the foul kraken.—Sweet stars in heavenGuard from disaster!Great wind of mercyBe my mild master!
