Since 1869 he has been engaged in architectural practice; is a fellow of the American institute of architects; and president of the Connecticut chapter of the American institute of architects. He is the author of Modern American School Buildings. Brigham, Albert Perry, clergyman, geologist, author, was bom June 12, 1855, in Perry, N.Y. In 1882-91 he filled pastorates in Stillwater and Utiea, N.Y. Since 1893 he has been professor of geology in Colgate university at Hamilton, N.Y. He is the author of Textbook of Geology; and Geographical Influences in American History. Brigham, Amariah, physician, author, was born Dec. 36, 1798, in New Marlborough, Mass. author of The Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology of the Brain. He died Sept. 8, 1849, in Utica, N.Y. Brigham, Charles David, journalist, was born in 1819 in Oxford, N.Y. In his journalistic work in New York City he was associated with Horace Greely. A year before the outbreak of the civil war he was sent to report the sentiment of the south and was arrested as a spy but escaped. In 1885-90 he edited the Times in Pittsburg, Pa. He died Oct. 20, 1894, in Washington, D.C.

Brigham, Charles Henry, clergyman, auwas born July 37, 1820, in Boston, Mass. In 1866 he became pastor of a unitarian church at Ann Arbor, Mich.; and in the same year was chosen professor of biblical archaeology and ecclesiastical history at Meadville theological school, where he lectured twice a year for ten years. He was the author of Letters of Foreign Travel in two volumes; and Life of Rev. Simeon Daggett. He died Feb. 19, 1879, in Brooklyn, N.Y. Brigham, Clarence Saunders, librarian, author, was born Aug. 5, 1877, in Providence, E.I. In 1899-1900 he was assistant in the Brown university library; and since 1900 has been librarian of the Rhode Island historical society. He is the author of Memorial of Amos Perry; History of Rhode Island; Bibliography of Rhode Island History; Rhodes Island Archives; and edited the Portsmouth Records, the Harris Papers, Major Butler's Fourth Paper and other literary works. thor,

He died April 33, 1816, in Washington, D.C. Brigham, Gershom Nelson, physician, author, poet, was born in 1830 in Vermont. Dec. 15, 1875, in Providence, R. I. In 18981903 he was assistant librarian in Brown university; and since 1903 has been state librarian of Rhode Island. Brigham, Jolmson, journalist, diplomat, librarian, was born in 1846 in Cherry Valley, N. Y. He accepted a position in the service of the United States sanitary commission; and was promoted to chief clerk in 1864. Nine years later he was appointed canal collector at B'rockport, N.Y. For twelve years he was editor-in-chief of the Daily Republican of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1892 he was president of the republican league of Iowa; and later was appointed United States consul to Aix la Chapelle. In 1899 he became state librarian of Iowa at DesMoiues; and has been president of the state library commission.

Brigham, Jonas V., soldier, was born in Massachusetts. In 1814 he became second lieutenant in the ninth regiment United States infantry; was made first lieutenant the same year; and was honorably discharged in 1815. Brigham, Lewis A., lawyer, congressman, was born Jan. 3, 1831, in York Mills, N.Y. In 1866-70 he was superintendent of the public schools of Bergen, N.J.; was a member of the board of police commissioners of Jersey City in 1874-76; and was a representative in the state legislature in 1877. In 1879-81 he was a representative from New Jersey to the forty-sixth congress as a republican. He died Feb. 30, 1886 in New Jersey.
