TO LESBIA.

FROM CATULLUS.

"Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus."

My Lesbia, let us live and love:And should th' ill-natured old reprove,Oh let not that our spirits move!
The sun that sets, again will rise; But we, when life's short daylight dies,In endless night must close our eyes.
Kiss me a hundred thousand times,Another hundred thousand times,And a third hundred thousand times.
Then, after many million kisses,The reckoning we'll confuse with more;Lest any envy us our blisses,On counting up the joyous score.
