Doubtless thy child was wafted to the Gods.
Forbear grief, cease from wrath against thy lord.
Of mortals unforeseen the Gods' ways are, 1610
And whom they love they save: for this same day
Dying and living hath beheld thy child.

How glad I hear the messenger's report!
He saith thy child bides living midst the Gods.

O daughter, of what God stolen art thou? 1615
