Your latest issue was received today, and it proved quite enjoyable; "Beyond the Door" and "Lord of Talking Hands" were very good.

I wish you would print this announcement: I am trying to start a sort of "spare-parts" bureau for old WT. Back in the twenties, almost everybody cut their favorite stories out of an issue and passed it on. As a result, there are thousands of stray ½ copies and ¼ copies wandering around fandom. I have recently bought quite a number, and wish more; with this stock, I shall endeavor to supply reasonably odd pages missing from fans' copies. Anyone wishing to buy, sell, or trade these will please write me. . . .

You may be interested to have a letter from an English reader of Weird Tales, one who has been a magazine reader for a great number of years and in addition has read most of the accepted classics in your type of story.

Weird Tales is a quite readable production, with some very good stories and some excellent illustrations. But one point—and this is by no means confined to Weird Talesis the amount of "bally-hoo" that goes on concerning the authors. We feel here that the story, the work itself, is the thing, and have to admit at being irked at being expected to read "potted biographies" of some nice but very obscure chap who wrote a good-enough story, and no more. As for the future, I look forward to some special Weirds in 1954, but not so called science fiction, which leaves me unimpressed as being in a great many cases, just plain silly.
