Let us talk, let us laugh, let us tellall kinds of things to one another;men and women, let us begay and amusing together, and freefrom airs and from false modesty.

But at the same time, don't let's thinkthat this quite real intimacyof talk and thought and me-and-theemeans anything further and physical.
Nay, on the very contrary,all this talking intimacyis only real and right if wekeep ourselves separate physicallyand quite apart.
To proceed from mental intimacyto physical, is just messy,and really, a nasty violation,and the ruin of any decent relationbetween us.—
