ON SEEING "THE BLIND BEGGAR" OF THE CARRACCI.
Amidst the living mass of human kindThere strolled a beggar, poor and lone and blind—Blind from his birth—a sightless dreaming boy,Who felt, but never saw the sun's bright joy,Till at the feet of "Jesus Christ" he came,And then a thrill of faith shot through his frame,And, kneeling down, he begged, in humble prayer,That blessing, sight—nor long he lingered there.·········
