Poems (Mary Coleridge)/Poem 59

LIX FAIR AS A DREAM!
What vision of the softly sleeping eyesShone like the vision that they could not see?Night, quivering with the children of the skies    Resplendently.
Fair is her dream. But ah! what fairest dreamIs half so lovely as the dawn of day,    When the first golden gleamChases the rose and dove colour away?
