Poems (Taylor)/The End of the Way

THE END OF THE WAY
Much have I seen by the winding way;And much have I desired. What is the end of it all to-day?—Jesu, I am tired!
I met with Love amid the dew;At noon with Shame and Wrath;—At sunset those three gibbets threwTheir shadows on my path.
No beauty can I bear to see.Too much have I desired. Here is a wayside Calvary!Jesu, I am tired.
