Poems (Waldenburg)/Any How

ANY HOW. HUNGARIAN OF PETÖFI.
Doubtingly awaited I my wedding morning, great my fear,Yet it is with this day's wintry dawning surely here. How in all the world my life shall goGuess I not, it will not wait I knowAny how!
Only a poor peasant's healthy son, here I standNot so much as even to kneel upon of the land.Yet though gold be wanting, this is soLive we must and willy I surely knowAny how!
She my bride a maiden is with stubborn head,I say not a yes, to that or this, a spaniel led!So perhaps the blood will angry flowIn our hearts, and yet, life smooth must goAny how!
She must yield to-morrow, I to-day, so we'll goRight along upon our daily way fast or slow,If the day shall find the strife begunWe will kiss and rest at set of sunAny how!
