Translation:Report on Martinet (5 July 1885)
Martinet
Excerpt from a report by the Police Prefect of the department — dated 5 July 1885.
(Filed in the 4th Bureau of the Sûreté Générale Directorate file)
In response to my previous communications, I have the honor to inform you that the individual named Martinet Paul Désiré Pierre, who was the subject of your expulsion order dated 26 June and notified on the 28th of the same month, left Paris yesterday.
As I informed you on the 2nd of this month, the aforementioned Martinet abused the departure deferment that had been granted to him. Indeed, he took advantage of it to resume contact with the main anarchists in Paris and to distribute a supplement to Le Drapeau Rouge, a kind of vulgar pamphlet of which he is the author. He also attended several meetings organized by his political correligionists.
Martinet, during the four days following his release, was under constant surveillance, as he knows. He departed on Monday evening at 9:15 PM and took, at the Gare du Nord, a ticket for Creil, thereby changing his itinerary, since, at his request, he had been issued a free passport to travel to Marseille.Attached is the description of this individual. Excerpt from a report by the Police Prefect of the department — dated 5 July 1885.
