Severo-Kurilsk

Severo-Kurilsk (Russian: Се́веро-Кури́льск, Japanese: 柏原,) is a town and the administrative center of Severo-Kurilsky District, in the Kuril Islands of Sakhalin Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northern part of the Kuril Islands, on the island of Paramushir.

• 🌍 Japanese military airfield. The outlines of the runway and abandoned caponiers have been preserved  
• 🌍 Mayak Mountain. The mountain overlooks the island of Shumshu. There are two lighthouses on its slopes.  
• 🌍 Rock "Tur". This is a rock on the coastline  
• 🌍 The dam. This is a hydroelectric dam built by the Japanese before WW2

• 🌍 Atlasov Island. This is the northernmost island and volcano. It is also the highest volcano of the Kuril islands. Atlasov Island can be reached by boat from the port of Severo-Kurilsk.  
• 🌍 Shumshu. This is the easternmost and second-northernmost island of the Kuril Islands chain, which divides the Sea of Okhotsk from the northwest Pacific Ocean. Shumshu Island can be reached by boat from the port of Severo-Kurilsk.
