Compare typologically ῥύμμα (rhúmma) < ῥύπτω (rhúptō, to cleanse, to wash). Also compare Russian мы́ло (mýlo) akin to мыть (mytʹ). Also compare English lye << Proto-Indo-European *lewh₃-.
