1. a very informal way of addressing a familiar male person

   արա՛, ա՛յ համբալ ― ará, áy hambal ― hey you, moron!

The word's modern usage is almost universally perceived as disrespectful outside of close peer groups. Its usage towards elders or strangers is considered a deliberate provocation and is seen as highly impolite.
