     הסופר דויד גרוסמן אמר כי ברצועת עזה מתרחש רצח עם. בריאיון לעיתון האיטלקי ״לה רפובליקה״, שפורסם היום (שישי), סיפר זוכה פרס ישראל לספרות כי במשך שנים סירב להשתמש במילים האלו. ״אבל עכשיו אני לא יכול שלא להשתמש בהן — אחרי מה שקראתי בעיתונים, אחרי התמונות שראיתי, ואחרי שדיברתי עם אנשים שהיו שם״, אמר. ״עם כאב עצום ולב שבור, אני חייב לראות את מה שקורה לנגד עיניי. ׳רצח עם׳ זה צירוף שברגע שאומרים אותו הוא פשוט גדל כמו מפולת שלגים, ומביא עוד הרס וסבל״.

     The author David Grossman said that a genocide is taking place in the Gaza Strip. In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, published today (Friday), the Israel Prize–winning writer said that for years he had refused to use those words. “But now I can’t avoid using them—after what I read in the newspapers, after the images I saw, and after speaking with people who were there”, he said. “With immense pain and a broken heart, I must face what is happening before my eyes. ‘Genocide’ is a term that, once uttered, just grows like a snowball, bringing with it more destruction and suffering”.
