يالله • (yallāh)

1. just, just now, recently

   Synonym: عاد (ʕād)

   يالله شفت خوك غادي فالشارع.

   yallāh šuft ḵūk ḡādi f-eš-šāriʕ.

   I just saw your brother walking on the street.

2. about to, almost, on the verge of

   Synonym: على بونت (ʕla būnt)

   يالله جينا نبداوا نلعبوا وهي تتفش الكورة.

   yallāh jīna nlaʕbu u hiyya titfašš el-kūra.

   We were about to start playing when the ball deflated.

3. barely

   الصالير يالله كيكفيه باش يخلص الكرا و الماكلة د الشهر.

   eṣ-ṣālīr yallāh kayikfīh bāš yḵallaṣ le-krā w el-mākla d eš-šhar.

   The salary barely covers his monthly rent and food.

1. hurry up, come on

   Synonym: سربي (sarbi)

   يالله، راه خاصنا نمشيوا!

   yallāh, rāh ḵāṣṣna namšīw!

   Come on, We have to go!

2. let's, let's go

   ياللهي نمشيوا للمحطة باش نلحقوا على التران.

   yallāhi namšīw l-el-maḥaṭṭa bāš nlaḥqu ʕlā t-trān.

   Let's go to the train station to catch the train.

3. Expresses schadenfreude.

   يالله، شفتي؟ ها نتا طحتي على وجهك!

   yallāh, šufti? Hā nta ṭaḥti ʕlā wajhek.

   Ha, see? You fell on your face!

• When used in the sense of “hurry up” and “let's”, it inflects for number and gender in some speakers.
