Etymology
From Proto-Indo-Iranian *nákts, from Proto-Indo-European *nókʷts.
Cognate with Lithuanian naktis, Ancient Greek νύξ (núx), Latin nox, Russian ночь (nočʹ), Old English niht (whence English night).
