Akin to Avestan 𐬨𐬀𐬭𐬆𐬛- (marəd-, “to destroy”), Ancient Greek μάρναμαι (márnamai, “I fight, struggle”), Latin Mars (“the god of war”), Armenian մարտ (mart, “battle, combat”) etc.
