反接

1. (literary) to tie one's hands behind (one's back)

     Tóng Oū Jì zhě, Liǔzhōu ráomù ér yě. Xíng mù qiě ráo, èr háozéi jiéchí fǎnjiē, bù náng qí kǒu, qù yú sìshí lǐ zhī xūsuǒ mài zhī. [Pinyin]

     Ou Ji the child was a herd-boy and woodcutter in Liuzhou. Once when he was out herding and cutting firewood, a couple of ruffians kidnapped him, tied his hands behind his back and gagged him with a piece of cloth. He was taken to a market forty li away to sell.

     Nǎi chǐ háomín yī zì yī, fù zì cè qí mǎ, huī zhòng yōng háomín mǎ qián, fǎnjiē xùn zhū shì, shǐ zì hū yuē: “Wéi mín wū tàishǒu zhě shì cǐ.” Yī bù yī hū, bù hū zé zhàng, qí bèi jìn chuāng. [Pinyin]

     Then he stripped the tyrant of his clothes and dressed himself in them, while whipping the horse and making the latter walk before it with his hands trussed on the back, so as to parade him ostentatiously through the town. The tyrant was forced to cry aloud, “l am an example to those who frame the prefect!” Every step he moved was accompanied with such a cry and every pause within was followed by a club, which wounded him all over his back.
