手(て)打(う)ち • (teuchi) 

1. striking a deal, making a bargain

   契(けい)約(やく)の手(て)打(う)ちをする

   keiyaku no teuchi o suru

   close the deal on a contract

2. making noodles by hand or by oneself

   手(て)打(う)ちのそば

   teuchi no soba

   hand-made buckwheat noodles

3. (baseball) hitting the ball with the grip (handle) of the bat, getting jammed

     Heddo ga hayaku kaette shimaeba, yoi suingu o suru koto wa muzukashiku narimasu. Yakyū ni oite teuchi no hō no ōi gen'in no hitotsu wa koko ni arimasu.

     If the head of the bat comes around too quickly, it is hard to make a good swing. This is one of the most common causes of getting jammed in baseball.
