Inherited from Proto-Turkic *yorï- (“to walk”). Cognate with Chuvash ҫӳре (śüre), Turkish yürümek, Uzbek yurmoq, Bashkir йөрөү (yöröw), Old Uyghur 𐽶𐽳𐽾𐽶𐽹𐽰𐽲 (ywrymʾq /yorïmaḳ/) and Yakut сырыт (sırıt).
