Etymology

Inherited from Apabhramsa -अहुं (-ahuṃ) or a variant of such ending, which can be found in the ablative cases of several Apabhramsa nominal stems. Compare Marathi -ऊन (-ūn).

Usage notes

For masculine extended nouns ending in -ਆ (), the singular oblique case -ਏ () shortens to -ਇ (-i) when suffixed with -ਓਂ () to form -ਇਓਂ (-iõ).
