-ను

Alternative forms

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /-nu/

Suffix

-ను • (-nu)

  1. a suffix used as ending or sign of the second or accusative case

Usage notes

-ని and -ను can be used as an ending for the accusative case. The vowel was harmonized with the preceding vowel, -ని used after the vowel and -ను used elsewhere. In modern usage, they are used relatively interchangeably, however -ను is still never used after the vowel sound. In addition, accusative pronouns (such as నన్ను, నిన్ను, and మమ్మల్ని) use either -ను or -ని exclusively. In dated poetry, the vowel was optional, however -న్ is no longer used in modern Telugu.[1]
