Etymology
From earlier Cupertino, corrupted from Conventino, from conventino (“little gathering, little convent”), from Latin conventus (“assembly”). Civic legend states that the town’s emblem, a pine tree with the letters C and P, —stands for conventio populorum (“gathering of the people”).
