From Proto-West Germanic *Gunþihari, from Proto-Germanic *Gunþiharjaz. The rare forms in Kund- and Chund- are possible evidence of Proto-West Germanic *kunþ (“known, familiar”) in continental names, a stem more common in Old English. First attested in the 9th C. CE
