Haussuchung

German

Etymology

By surface analysis, Haus (house) +‎ suchen (to search) +‎ -ung (-ing). Formally from a rare Middle High German hūssuochunge, which is only attested in the slightly different sense “trespassing, unlawful entry”. For “house-search”, the older form is Middle High German hūssuoche, from Old High German hūssuohha. Compare Dutch huiszoeking.
