Etymology

Borrowed from English Hivite, from Ecclesiastical Latin Eveum,[1] from Ancient Greek Ευαῖον (Euaîon),[2] from Biblical Hebrew חִוִּי (ḥiûî).[3] Cognate with Tumbuka muHivi (Hivite), Tonga (Malawi) muHivi (Hivite) and Nyamwanga umu Hivi (Hivite).
