From Proto-Celtic *Kengetorīxs. Equivalent to *kingess (warrior) +‎ *rīx (king), from Proto-Celtic *kengets (warrior) + *rīxs (king), from Proto-Indo-European *(s)keng- (to limp, walk lamely) + *h₃rḗǵs (ruler). Compare with *Werkingetorix.
