Etymology
From Proto-Iranian *ǰiHwákah, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ǰiHwás. Equivalent to 𐎪𐎡𐎺 (ji-i-v /jīvaʰ/, “alive, living”) + -𐎣 (-k /-kaʰ/, hypocoristic suffix). Cognate with Sanskrit जीवक (jīvaka).[1]
