Reconstruction:Proto-Celtic/kʷerstā
Proto-Celtic
Etymology
Derived from a root *kʷres-, seen also in *kʷresnom and more distantly, Proto-West Germanic *hursti. The traditional ascription to Proto-Indo-European *pérkus (“oak”) is rejected by Van Sluis and Stifter for semantic reasons.
