Etymology

From earlier *ana +‎ *-odak, from Proto-Finno-Permic *ana- (compare Erzya анамс (anams, to want, ask, beg), Moksha анамс (anams, to want, ask, beg)).[1] Proto-Samic *ānōtēk is possibly an early loan from Finnic.
