Etymology

From Proto-Finno-Permic *orja, probably borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian *áryas (Aryan);[1] see the Proto-Finno-Permic entry for more. Cognates include Erzya уре (ure), Moksha уре (ure), possibly Proto-Samic *oarjē (south).
