Etymology
From Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *tuzuq (“to indicate, point”), from Proto-Austronesian *tuzuq. The semantic shift to "seven" is at least a Western Indonesian (or Greater North Borneo) innovation. Cognate with Proto-Chamic *tujuh.
