Etymology

According to Aikio (2009), a conflation of two originally distinct Norse borrowings; Proto-Norse [script needed] (*hrīþō), from Proto-Germanic *hrīþō (storm) and Proto-Norse [Term?], from Proto-Germanic *skridą (whence Norwegian Nynorsk skred (avalanche, landslide)).[1]
