  1. (transitive) to scrape, to scratch something off of something [auxiliary haben]
    Sie kratzt die Eisschicht von der Windschutzscheibe ab.
    She's scraping the layer of ice off of the windshield.
  2. (intransitive, vulgar) to kick the bucket, to snuff it, to croak (to die) [auxiliary sein]
    Sie hat 'nen krassen Stunt mit dem Motorrad hingelegt und ist dabei fast abgekratzt.
    She pulled off a badass motorcycle stunt and almost met her maker during it.
  3. (intransitive, vulgar, dated) to leave, to scram [auxiliary sein]
