Usage notes

Though this word has no standardized spelling — as it isn't attested in any major dictionary or vocabulary — anarco-punk is the most common spelling. The Vocabulário Ortográfico Português (Portuguese Orthographic Vocabulary), published in Portugal, hyphenates prefixes before orthographically unadapted borrowings, implicitly prescribing anarco-punk. However, a broad application of 1990 prefix hyphenation rules leads to the spelling anarcopunk, as they don't allow hyphens between prefix-final vowels and stem-initial consonants.
