    • 1956 October, “Recent Changes on the Tyneside Electrified Lines”, in Railway Magazine, page 659:
Motor baggage cars have been operated over both lines for many years. One of these vehicles was built in 1920, and two in 1938. The older car has recently been replaced by a vehicle of British Railways standard design. The cars will haul a trailing load of 100 tons. All axles are motored, but when hauling light loads the motors of either bogie can be isolated.
