Etymology 1

From Proto-Brythonic *bliθ, a conflation of a noun Proto-Celtic *mlixtus and an adjective *mlixtis, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂melǵ- (compare English milk, Latin mulgeō (“to milk”)). Cognate with Irish bleacht.
