Alternative forms

  • xatkàŋ (M.)

Etymology

Unknown. Perhaps derived from Proto-Yeniseian *kajš (foot) + *kawn (belly), in light of the latter part of the compound being attested as kaŋ. For the first part of the compound, compare Jie 劬禿當 (*gju.thuwk.tang /*got-o-kt-aŋ/, They will catch him., literally his foot, they will take).[1]

Noun
