Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Bantu *mʊ̀mʊ̀è (“smile”). Although the BLR 3 does not ascribe this word to region N, it is likely that Tumbuka still derives this word from here regardless. Note that Tumbuka's word features reduplication, commonly used for the frequency or emphasis. Cognate with Chichewa chimwemwe.
