desfira

Portuguese

Verb

desfira

  1. inflection of desferir:
    1. first/third-person singular present subjunctive
    2. third-person singular imperative

Romanian

Etymology

From des (un-) +‎ fir (thread) +‎ -a. Some Romanian etymological dictionaries list it as deriving from a local Vulgar Latin construction *disfīlāre (from dis- +‎ fīlāre), but this is unlikely, as normally it would become *diffīlāre in Latin.
