From Proto-Albanian *θle(i̯)i/a- (“to lie down for sleep”), from Pre-Proto-Albanian *ćlei̯-a/i- ("to lean"), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱley- (“to lean”) + Proto-Indo-European *peth₂- (“to spread out”).[1]
