mukuru

Tumbuka

Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Bantu *mʊ̀kʊ́dʊ́ (elder brother or sister). Although the BLR 3 does not state that this word is found in zone N, it is likely that Tumbuka's word derives from this regardless.

mukuru class 1 (plural ŵakuru class 2)

  1. older brother or older sister of the same sex.
