Syncope of Old Albanian sonëte, from the contraction of the syntagma *só nate, from Proto-Albanian *ti̯ā́ náta, from Pre-Proto-Albanian *tei̯i̯ā́ náta(i̯)i, from Proto-Indo-European *tes(m)i̯áh₂i nékʷti.[1] Same type of construction as sot, sivjet. More at natë.
