Etymology

From a diminutive of xunu (“June”), from Latin iūnius. Compare Sicilian giugnettu, French juillet (cf. also the Old French form juignet), Occitan julhet, Walloon djulete. Most of the synonyms are just xunu (“June”) with different diminutives.
